My custom settings usually screw some fragile balance with the codecs. You have to mix and change settings and try to get it to work. I usually just choose the Ipod setting, it usually works. If all fails, export as uncompressed AVI don't use any codecs. It'll be huge but everything should be there. Check what you choose for the sound codec as well. Now that you have a complete file, use an external program to compress the file, maybe H, Divx, FLV, whatever suits your needs.
