Coaches for the four teams will be announced on Jan. The East-West girls game will begin at 1 p. Both games will be live-streamed. Wando won the nine-team event with James Island finishing as the runner-up. Perhaps the biggest news of the tournament was the championship won by Jesse Kemp of James Island in the pound weight class. Kemp became the first female wrestler to win a county championship and was named the most outstanding wrestler in the lighter weight classes.
Edwards was one of nine Wando wrestlers to win a county championship. Another wrestling tournament was contested at Fort Dorchester over the weekend as the Patriots hosted the Skip Parker Invitational. Parker was a former coach at the school who lost his battle with cancer in Hanahan came away as the team champion, scoring points. Socastee finished second, followed by Fort Dorchester in third.
Cross led the way with three individual champions. Dustin McDonnell of Philip Simmons was the pound champion. Edit Close.
